cheapie round cables and RAID

I am thinking about stocking up on the round cables at svc.com but does anybody know how good they are? I am setting up a RAID 1 array using a highpoint RocketRAID controller card and I have been told tha the cables included with the card are best to use. But they aren't round. Can I use the svc.com ones and still get good transfer rates? thanks.

the only thing i would watch is the length of the cable; try and stay 18" or less, for hd cables. Evidently you can get some serious signal degridation on the longer cables. Doesn't seem to affect the floppies or cd, only hd's.

Been using their black 24" cheapie cables for 1+ year w/out issue for my HDD's on a K7S5A, not sure how well they'd work in raid, but so far w/ 2 drives on the cable it's been working fine for 1+ year. Just my 2 cents and hope this helps... 🙂

I am using generic round cables here....no probs....even the imitation flat cables that came with my MSI K7N2 are good too (I say imitation because they are look more life flat cables, rolled up with mesh around)...but they still look and perform ok.

I'm running a Raid 0 array (2x 15gb hdds) and a standalone 160gb hdd all on rounded cables from svc. They're running just fine, and I dont see any performance difference bettween these rounded ones and the standard cables. I say go for it.
