cheapest way to use ADB trackball on newer PC?

One of my friend's Logitech Trackball died recently. True to form, he is trying to fix it with glue or something, and I'm not so sure he will be successful. The promary index finger button isn't working properly because of wear in the plastic.

Anyway, I got online and found a place with Logitech Trackman Marble trackballs for $8 each. The problem is that they are an older Mac standard - ADB. It actually looks a lot like the PS/2 connector that we use for our keyboards and trackball.

I was wondering if I might be able to just cut the wires and hook up a PS/2 connector, but it doesn't look like it.

Anyone know if they ever made a PCI card that lets you use ADB peripherals on an IBM clone?

Or, can anyone suggest a place where I could get an ADB to USB adapter for $12 or less? If I could find one at that price, it might be worth getting the two of them instead of a new trackball.

Thanks!

How about a Logi. Marble Mouse?[/Lhttp://www.google.com/products?q=Logitech+Marble+Mouse&btnG=Search+Products&scoring=p[/L]

Works fine for me. I had the original Trackman Marble FX before this and it started going gimpy. This is as close as they come to that any more. As low as 10.99 per Froogle.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like that thing makes you use all of your fingers, and I'm used to just using my thumb on the ball to move around now.

So nobody knows of an inexpensive way to get an ADB peripheral like a trackball working on an IBM clone PC? (inexpensively)

Wow, blast from the past.

I'd be surprised if there was a way to get one of those things working on an OS X Mac, much less a Windows machine.

Nope, marble mouse I use index and middle finger, thumb on left buttons, ring finger on right buttons. Ambidextrous too (heck, I got to where I could even work the original Marble FX pretty well w/ my left and there was or is hardly a pointing device more righty-centric), for when I'm doing something else with my right hand... 😀
