cheapest way to support 6 monitors with 2 PCIe slots

- have 2 PCIe slots (no PCI)
- no onboard video
- want true multi-monitor support, not spanned monitors like you can get with a DMS-59 connector or Sapphire FleX cards

currently have 4 hdmi/dvi monitors, will get 2 more with DP support

currently the best I can find is 2 ASUS EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6670 with HDMI/DVI/DP for $80 + $80 - $20 rebate = $140

What are the resolutions of your monitors? That card would work...

The gaming performance might be a waste but for about them same cost you can get one of these. And any shitty 6450 like this.

Edit: It seems a little sketchy if the 7770 will actually output to 4 monitors at a time. So I'm not sure.

I do believe the 7770 will support 4 at once

that would be $130 - $20 rebate + $41 - $10 rebate = $141 so just about the same price

but I have questions about running 2 different cards like that together. yes it should work, but are there likely to be any glitches or issues with that? I really want a trouble-free setup.

I wouldn't mix and match. Your original plan is still the best plan as far as the cheapest method goes. Alternatively if you need better performance, you can grab a pair of 7750s for around $180.
