Cheapest way to hookup a 3rd monitor to my Hackintosh?

I recently bought 3x Dell 24 inch IPS U2412m monitors. I bought the 3rd one to extend my MacBook Pro vertically to on of the screens. Well now I kinda want to hook up the 3rd one to my hackintosh.

What is the easiest / cheapest way to do this? I have a UV16 from EVGA but it makes the screen barely usable.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

you need a minidisplay adapter that runs power to the monitor. The cheapest way would be to get a second videocard and just use it with the 3rd monitor

I saw a GTX 465 with a mini HDMI and two DVI would that work?

If you use the HDMI port, you lose access to one of the DVI ports. The GPU only supports 2 DVI connections. That is why you need to use 2 DVI/HDMI & MiniDP on ATi cards to use Eyefinity.

i'd get a 30" then you have a reason to need displayport :) i could swore i saw some sort of 6 port monster in a mac pro recently - maybe it was one of those dual GPU configurations (on one card)?

That would be awesome but I don't know if I want to put more money into my hacktosh atm.

Ah. Is Eyefinity hackintosh friendly?

Eyefinity is not on OS X. But any card that says supporting Eyefinity that is also Hack supported will probably enable you to have 3 active video outs.

I'm currently using 2x nv 9600GSO for 2xU2410 and 1x20".. But you don't have an other PCIe slot ;(

Looking for an upgrade soon probably 6xxx series.

Obviously if your board supports another video card, that is the easiest way. My MSI P55-GD80 supports 3x video cards and I have them all working with 6 monitors. Of course this was only possible with a customized DSDT.

Otherwise, there are USB video cards out there, I have one of those also, but be sure to use it wisely. They don't support full motion video all that well.

Just to drive a display you dont need the thing to be 16x speed. I know on macpros you can dynamically change what pci-e slots get how many lanes. I have both my cards running at 8x speed into 4 displays

I use this to connect a third monitor to my work hackintosh. It doesn't really have any 3D acceleration, but that's not an issue for me, since I use it for email and IM. That particular model supports resolutions up to 1400x1050, but versions of this adapter that support higher resolutions exist.
