I lost my Windows 98 CD, and now building my new computer, I want the Windows XP Pro but am wondering if I have to pay $399 for the full edition. Is there any way I can get it cheaper then this? I live in Canada, btw.

buy a piece of hardware, and then buy the OEM version of XP Home or XP Pro

XP Home OEM can be had for under $100.00
XP Pro is around the $130-145 range, OEM of course

If you want to buy a legit copy of Win XP Pro, you can find the OEM version at Microbarn for $139. You have to buy "hardware" to buy the OEM version, and at some places that means a CPU or hard disk. But at Microbarn, a $1 power cable is OK. I ordered my copy there yesterday.
