Cheapest way to get to croatia?

By the kid who wants to go to Ireland. I want to go to Croatia, it has allways been a dream to see that area. The only other country I have ever seen is Jamaica and it was amazing, I saw all portions of the western side of the island, porr, wealthy, etc. It was great!

I have always wanted to go to Croatia because that is where my Last Name originated from...Srdar.

Well, for the past few years I have been wanting to go really badly. I was on kayak.com checking flights to split or Dubrovnik and they are about 1400-1600 round trip.

Is there an airport I can fly to that is significantly cheaper and then take a train to somewhere in Croatia (preferably near the water..it looks gorgeous).

Time isn't an issue, anything within the next year would be amazing...for 2-4 weeks I guess, I would stay at a semi cheap hotel, or couchsurf it 🙂.

Do tell me if you guys can think of anything!!

Then you are kind of SOL.

Warm = July/August = Most $$$ to fly to Europe.

I would consider May/June and September as alternatives.
 
i think London is the cheapest flight in the area, or maybe Berlin. Then take a train the rest of the way.

I took a quick look at ORD>DBV (via FRA, CDG, VIE, etc.) flights on Expedia during the months of both May and September and you're taking $2K+ for a RT ticket.

And unfortunately, I am not seeing an ORD>VCE direct flights.

I suppose your next best bet would be ORD to VIE, train to Venice, boat to Croatia. That train ride through the Alps is amazing BTW!

Doing the same trip from September 1 through 15 yields the same $933 price.

Doing the same trip in the middle of July and the price goes to $1100+.
