Cheapest way to get digital (5.1) audio from a powerbook?

I was watching a movie from my powerbook, using the PC input of our LCD, and I was impressed with how nice it looked (ripped DVD, no compression). I was thinking that it was too bad it wasn't in surround sound.

So I was thinking if a cheap digital cable was available, I might just use that. Any ideas?

Which P-P-P-P-P-P-Powerbook! is it?

I believe some of the later models had Optical out through the headphone jack, but not all of them.
