cheapest way for raid 1?

I'm thinking of putting together a small server just for backups.
but I stumped trying to think of the best way to do raid 1

I'd like to do 2 60 gig ide seagates with 3ware cards., but that will be 400-500 easily
anyone think of a way to get about 40-80 gigs in a raid array for less?
