I don't game much and my AIW 9700pro has served me well so far but CoD2 is basically unplayable at that resolution on my card. What would be the cheapest card I could get to play this? Can I do it without overhauling my entire system to one with a PCI-E slot? I'm looking for a card that can get me 30fps consistently, no AA, with medium details.

I currently have a 2.4 GHz P4C @ 3 GHz with 1 GB of RAM @ DDR500 running on an i865 board. I'm happy with my computer apart from this game and I am looking to hold off on any major upgrades until Windows Vista when I will overhaul my system.

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

I recently purchased an X850 Pro (VIVO) which is unlockable to 16 pipes, and has some serious OC overhead. I haven't done any of it yet, and can play that game fabulously at the specified resolution on my 2005fpw. And my PC is slower, but with 1 GB of RAM too.

I finished the game, on that monitor, at that reso, and I gotta say the game really crawled at times...and I had an x800XT PE, P4 2.8GHz, and 1GB DDR RAM. I should say I had no AA on, but everything else was max, except for specular lighting, which was only high.

HL2, Q4, and FEAR all run better.

I finished the game running with:

AXP 2500 @ 2.2ghz
6800GT @ 400/1100
2GB OCZ Plat
2005 FPW

I was able to keep the game at 1680x1050 though there were a few times that the FPS suffered noticably. One instance in a russian mission involving a street with lots of guys and smoke brought my comp to it's knees but other than that the frames stayed up. I had all settings maxed out (except for AA).

I am going at it with my Radeon 9700 Pro, 64 3600+ and a gig of RAM. VX-924, 1280x1024, no AA/AF, DX7 - no problems! Having it on DX9 puts the system (prolly my vid card) to its knees.
