i need the absolute cheapest card possible that will run vista w/ aero enabled. it needs to be less than 35-40 dollars (20 dollars would be excellent). is this even possible? ive been looking around on newegg but no reviews for the cheapos have mentioned vista.

advice?

I sold a used fx5200 128MB for $20. surely its more powerful than a GMA950 (which will run aero)

Although MS only "recommends" a 128mb DX9 card.

So if you don't mind a rebate....

70 dollars is way too much by a factor of 2. i dont care if it plays games or does anything - it just needs to run aero semi-decently and be under 35 dollars, around 20 with any luck.

fx5200? will that definitely run aero? ive seen those pretty cheap - in the right price range.

I would recommend the 6600gt that others have linked. Works great.

I used my old 9600LE for Aereo during the open beta days and it ran great.

A 7300GS will run for less than $50, and shouldn't have any problems at all with Areo.

any model with SM 2.0 and 128MB ram will be absolutely fine. You might even get away with 64 MB - but you definitely don't need DX10 as aero is still DX9. You will need SM 2.0 tho or it will default to vista basic.
