Seems the xbox I received comes with a blackbox that has component outputs.
Anyone here have a good cheap solution that they have used to convert component to either composite (meh) or perhaps vga or dvi ?

Note, this is the original xbox, not the 360.

I thought the old Xbox had a composite output on the back? Doesn't it?

It has composite output on the back, you just need the right cable to plug into the jack, like this one. As for converting component to DVI or VGA, there's no cheep way to do that.

A 360 cable works on the original xbox ?

Temp solution was to get a old TV that has component inputs, but the picture quality is pretty bad. Dunno if it is this really cheap TV, or what.

Yeah, I actually got one of those converter boxes for my original Xbox to hook it up to my monitor some years ago. It worked fairly well but it wasn't perfect; contrast wasn't as good as it should have been.

Honestly it may be a better idea to either get a used 360 and get a VGA cable for it, or get a monitor or TV with component inputs.
