Can anybody point me to either a site or coupons (I heard dell gives alot) so I could maybe buy the 2001FP for <$450? If not, can somebody recommend another good 1600x1200 monitor, preferably w/ a 16ms or lower response time. Thx in advance.

Response times stated by manufacturers are pretty close to meaningless in terms of actual performance. Make sure you check out monitor reviews.

Usually you can get a good deal on a dell 2005 for under $400....specially when they have their quarter sales...last quarter sale was in August, thats when I picked up my 2nd 2005 for $381 shipped.

Have seen them go as low as $368 but thats hard to catch....

Well, they still have meaning as long as you figure out what they are referring to, whether they are using any 'cheats' (eg 'overdrive' 4ms panels that aren't really 4ms).

While I do agree with you that an 8ms or 12ms is nowhere near that response time over the entire pixel switching spectrum, nevertheless they are accurate for either black-to-white or grey-to-grey transitions (different manufacturers use either transition).

The "8ms" Dell 2405fpw, for example is 8ms in grey-grey, and more like 12ms or 16ms in black-white.

Still anything that is truly 16ms or less (in both black-white and grey-grey) is IMO a good ghost free screen.

The Dell 2001FP can be had for $464.30 right now, while the 2005FPW is going for $499.20. See tech bargains dot com (or any similar site) for more details.
