I am building a new computer:

MSI KT3 Ultra 2
512mb Samsung PC2700 Ram
Radeon 8500LE
WD 80gb Special Edition
Couple LED fans
AXP 1600+ O'ced

Anyways, I really don't want to pay through my ears for a power supply if i can get away with one that will do the same thing but cost me less. So if anyone has any info on this, or any suggestions. Please post. Thanks.

The Turbolink PSU's are supposed to be great budget PSU's. Supposedly they are made by Channel Well which I read in some forum that they made the Antec PSU's too, but that could just all be rumor.

You're spending quite a few bucks already - what's peace of mind worth to you? Most people skimp on the PS and wonder why they can't overclock or there are random lockups. Spend a few bucks and get a good one - it saves alot of headaches in the future.

You wouldn't buy a Dodge Viper and then use no-name motor oil and filters on it, would you? Get at least a Sparkle Power 350W so you have room to play with. It's under $50 shipped. This should be a higher-priority item than LED-lighted fans :D

Alright, i get it. So then my next question is. What's a good Price to Quality ratio? Raidmax Aluminum 400w I was looking at that one. Is it ok? What am I looking for specifically? I mean, is there a certain voltage i should be looking for? Thanks

Sure, I use them in my own systems. The 400 watt for $20 is an awesome deal. I got one to work on a dual duron system along with a K7S5A without a problem. Never had one fail yet.

But I am far from normal. I have heard of atleast 2 other poeple who were unable to get the linkworld and the k7s5a to work, so take it with a grain of salt.

Hell, I got a K7SEM running on a 130 watt power supply from an old HP system. ( just the board and1.2 gig hd with a 900 thunderbird )

Whatever you get, look for a 180w or higher rating on the 3.3 + 5v rails. That is where your stability will come from.

A quality 300w will probably do the job, but with your intent of overclocking, it's difficult to recommend anything under 350w.

The best buys are usually case/psu combos, and the Antec sx series are some of the best all around deals. The same cases are sold under the uneec, chieftec and enermax brands, although you need to be careful to get a decent psu in some builds.....

If you just want a psu, check this one out-

Heroichi

High quality, nothing fancy- No point in paying extra for aluminum casings and clear fans if you're on a budget.....

Is it this week that CompUSA has their 300W PSU on sale for $19.99? If so, grab one of those. I've had super luck with their 250W model. It's heavy, sturdy and runs my heavily overclocked 1600+ (12x150) on a KK266plus without a hitch. It also ran a heavily overclocked K7S5A I had. :)

How much does the +12v line matter? What's a good level for it? 15 or higher? And also, thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate it.
