Can everyone please post where you have gotten the best deals for airfare?

I need a ticket from San Antonio, TX to Houston, TX

My friend is flying me out from Houston to Atlanta but i need to get to houston. We're driving back from atlanta so i can't take a car to Houston.

Thanks.

I've tried Hotwire and no go

EDIT: can't find deals for one way, i'm leaving the 13th evening.

EDIT EDIT: Can i borrow someone's private jet? ;)

I start with Travelocity, but sometimes find better deals at American Express Travel. AMEX requires the AMEX card for the deals though.

For package deals (all inclusives) I usually check out Apple Vacations and another one I forget the name of. They contract planes for flights and can offer some really good deals.

<< There is no scheduled service from SAT to IAH on 2/13/2002 >>

if you ever need a ticket about 1-2 months away, travelocity can be hard to beat. their prices shift with the demand of plane tickets, i've been looking to goto LA to see my sister and found a round-trip ticket about a week ago for 203 (i leave on March 1)! anyway, the price range was between 203-250 over a 2 week time (i'd check it every other day to get the lowest fare). sorry that might not help the poster of this thread but it's something to think about.

I've used Travelocity and Expedia before. I recently purchased a round-trip ticket from Burlington, Vermont to Reno, Nevada for $247.50 (includes all taxes, ect.) - pretty good deal if you ask me. This basically took a few days of checking hour upon hour because these prices and deals change so rapidly. Sometimes they were changing every hour, just have to be at the right place at the right time sometimes?!

last time i used hotwire.com and paid $205 to Cleaveland, Ohio and back from Dallas, Texas. That was also on the day of Christmas and i bought it like 5 days ahead.

I think i'm going to have to take the bus ;) it's $21, but that won't take me to the airport. This is sucking.

She's paying for it but I want to try to save her as much money as possible. I think I might have to go with Southwest after all. They are the cheapest and fly very often plus no advance purchase necessary. It's going to cost more to goto Houston from San Antonio then Houston to Atlanta ($80 one way via airtran). ah well....gotta make do....

Thanks for the help guys.

It's a pain trying to find one-way tickets when sometimes 2 way are cheaper :(

The more in advance you buy it, the cheaper it will be.

ie, STL-SNA is double the cost if you buy ticket now for next week compared to next month. (same carrier, same flight).

Orbitz is good...
