cheapest place to get ink.

I'm looking for the cheapest place to get inks. i have 2 of the 3 colors low on my ip3000 and 1 low on my mp130. i was thinking abougt stocking up since i saw some sites give you a deal on 5+ tanks.

Before I decided to refill, I used to order cartridges from www.bulkinkjetcarts.com. Their BCI-3's are $1.39 a pop and their BCI-24's are a buck a pop. They have pretty good color balance, excellent customer service, and a toll free telephone number. There may be cheaper outfits but you might put them on a short list. I ordered 18 cartridges and had zero problems with any of them.

I found out about bulkinkjetcarts on the nifty stuff forums---and would never consider using an ink cartridge vendor blind---so I also refer any with vendor questions to nifty stuff.
Why buy a pig in the poke?

why not? (to Insomniator) I buy ink from Swiftink and my 8x10's come out looking beautiful. Now I wouldn't print pics with ink I bought off ebay for like 20 bucks for 20 carts. But, quite a few places online has OEM quality inks, you just have to look.

Ther only area where Canon OEM ink is superior is in fade resistance. And that difference is not all that great---with the photopaper you choose being of more importance. But when you consider that an 8x10
photoprint will cost the user almost a dollar in ink consumable costs using OEM ink---anyone doing volume photoprinting is going to be spending fairly big bucks.

When one talks about the BCI-3&6 cartridge lines---or even the chipped CLI-5&8 cartridges---Canon OEM ink vended in the form of OEM cartridges costs something on the order of $2500/gal for text
black and about $4300/gal for the colors---and thats cheap when compared to what HP and Lexmark charges----but top quality Canon refill ink with very close to Canon OEM color balance can be had retail from anywhere from $100 to $200/gal depending on the quanity purchased.---the gallon unit is just an arbitary unit---its the ratio that counts.

At the nifty stuff forums concenus favorite inks are vended by MIS, formulalabs, and hobbiecolors.
Price is often a poor predictor of quality.---especially when you get into mass vendors of cartridges on ebay or the like. Which is why I look on the nifty stiff forums for ink ratings.

But you can evaluate quality three ways (1) Safety---always get an ink blended for your type of printer--never get a generic ink advertised to work in all printers brands. (2) Color balance---very important if you do photoprinting---not as improtant if you are just doing general printing. (3) Fade resistance.===where Canon OEM has a slight edge.

I buy ink for my iPixma 3000 from SwiftInk.com and have had excellent results. They are VERY inexpensive (I got two full sets of black and color inks for slightly more than the cost of a single black cartridge from Canon) and the print quality in text and photos is virtually identical to photos printed with the original Canon ink cartridges.
