Cheapest netflix/dishnetwork streaming options

Situation: Fiancee is moving to Florida for a year. She has a laptop, but is bringing no other electronics with. I will be buying her a tv when we get down there. She's getting internet, but no cable tv. We have a netflix subscription and ideally I'd also like her to be able to watch things I've dvr'd for her while there via a web browser.

Essentially, then, I need to come up with the cheapest way to get her both netflix streaming access and access to a browser hooked up to a 42" LCD. Her laptop has a vga out, and that's it. So what's the best bet? Find a cheap laptop and just have her leave it hooked up to the TV? Get an xbox 360 or something off of cl? Buy a blu-ray player (netflix is easy here, not sure how well web browsing would work)

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Gracias!

Depending upon how much you are going to spend on the tv, Sony had some now discontinued tvs with google tv built in last year.

Reviews I read said the 32 inch one has pretty good picture quality.

Think I also read previously that other companies were coming out with these usb thumb sticks with similar hardware / software on it (their own os and smart tv apps).

Buy her a pair of binoculars and let her watch Netflix movies through the neighbors window.....that is the cheapest way I know.....🙂
