Cheapest Mouse for Gaming

Hey all,

Generally speaking, I prefer Logitech over other mouses (mice?), but I don't feel like paying 20 dollars for a mouse. Are there any optical mouses out there that can be used for precise tracking for FPSs that are less than 20, or am I dreaming?

Thanks

hmm, even the cheapest optical mice from logitech and MS retail for about $15 in stores or $9 online these days. If you really want cheap, go with a no name optical mouse for $5 or so.

if you really want logitech, go for something like the 'logitech optical mouse' for $13 on newegg.

But personally, I would consider jumping up to a 5 button optical mouse. they can be had for around $20 if you look around enough, and having the extra back and forward buttons really does make a difference once you get used to them...

don't ever skimp on the 3 physical connections to your computer:

the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

would you pick eyeglasses over 20-20 vision if there was a small premium for the ladder?
how about 3 fingers instead of 5 because 5 costs 10 dollars more?

then why skimp when it comes to your computer interface?

edit: sorry, just realized that had no practical advice...

since you missed the razer on woot for 19.99, you'll have to settle for:

an old logitech mouseman ball mouse (best ball mice out there IMO..) these should be had for cheap..

if you must have optical make sure it has a higher resolution.. the lower resolutions will cause your cursor to 'jump' when you move the mouse too fast. especially in an fps.

try and find a good logitech mx like the person above suggested.. you'll be happy you spent the extra 10-20 dollars for something you touch every time you use your computer.

Heh, my problem is justifying the expense to my wife... I still need to buy a decent case and a decent video card 🙁, so I have to justfiy those expenses also. Truth is I really want an MX series.. was considering the 310 as it is a bit cheaper. How is that mouse? And again, if anyone has any experience with the LX3 please share (or opinions).

Some people swear by the Microsoft Intellimouse. There's a new revision out, too. Check out the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0. MSRP is ~$40.

I like my Logitech MX510. There's a 518 with a few different features, but it's the same excellent mouse at heart. My mom used mine for all of 5 minutes one time and decided she wanted two -- one for home and one for work. She's not looked back since.

Basically, it's really nice ergonomically, has programmable buttons, a good size and good tracking. Only 800 DPI vs. the 1600+ that some newer mice have, but it's nice and cheap and it's a Logitech mouse (a winner).

Hope this helps. Oh, and the Logitech MX510 or 518 should be around $30-35.

EDIT: It looks sweet, too.

EDIT (2): Find it on a sale for the price you seek.
