Its always good to ask inofrmed people opinions before you buy stuff I think so i will subject you all to another "which card should I buy" thing.

I wanted to save up for a 6800gt but that is proving diffcult. and also i have discoverd that there is not alot beyond hl2 and far cry that I want to play on pc so 300 would be a bit of an investment for a few games. I play HL2 and it looks good enough on my current card but Id like to be able to run the lost coast when it comes out as well. I also would like to play far cry high settings at 1024 w some AA comfortably.

I was wondering if you all could give me your opinions on what is the cheapest agp card or cards that will have a marked improvenment or be worth the upgrade price beyond the 9600xt and maybe recommend a card that you believe suits my needs as well if think the next card up from a 9600xt is insufficent.

Ive played on some cards read about others but still id like your advice.
thanks.

The 9800pro as the next step up from the 9600XT is a good card, but with the 6600GT dropping into the low $150 range, and even the 128mb 6800 below the $200 mark it is hard to recommend it.

And i'm assuming AGP, otherwise there is also the X800 128mb 12pipe available in PCI-e

Agreed, the only way I would buy the 9800pro over the other two is if the price was $90.00-$100.00, it really depends on your price range.

a 9800 pro should not be worth 150. a 6600gt is a little more than that and it will blow the radeon away. the 6800 is better than both of those 2 and its coming around 200. well worth it.
