A number of people I'm kinda associated with will be flying out to LA for an event taking place June 26-29. None of them have places to stay thus far, and none of them have much cash...

Are there any REALLY cheap hotels in LA? As long as it isn't too far from downtown (< 10-20 miles away), it should work. Ghetto motels are fine... $50 and under a must.

Any suggestions?

The Sheraton for $56??! None of the people are checking hotels.com (almost all are booking directly). I'll pass that along to them. Nothing cheaper, eh? $25-30/night?

Phew, kinda pricey...

Current rates from $449 per week; $79 per night.

But thanks for the info, RossMAN. :) Maybe a few will have a couple more dollars to throw around... and if worse comes to worse, they can squish 10 into a room. I've seen it done before. :p

Dezign,

You're welcome, yes it is a little pricey but at least it's DECENT, CLEAN and COMFORTABLE.

If they do squeeze 10 people into a room, make sure they do it at night so no one sees!

Go to biddingfortravel and use priceline.
2* hotel are mostly quite nice, Fairfield Inn is 2* and clean. Better than Motel 6.
For 2* hotel, including taxes, the average is probably around $35.

Good advice, on the first page alone I see 3 hotels @ $35 per night.

after thinking there is a place on highland ave between 101 freeway entrance and franklin next to the church were its just a bed. So basically u just paying for bed instead of a room. Not sure if u really need a room or just a place to stay overnight
