What is the best website for storing pictures and scans? I would like unlimited storage and something that is real cheap. Thanks.

Flikr or Picasa are the most popular. Just be careful because once you post them up there they own the copyrights to your photos. You're best registering your own website if you want to display them to the public.

^ not true, at least for google's picasa
Google claims no ownership or control over any Content submitted, posted or displayed by you on or through Picasa Web Albums. You or a third party licensor, as appropriate, retain all patent, trademark and copyright to any Content you submit, post or display on or through Picasa Web Albums and you are responsible for protecting those rights, as appropriate. By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through Picasa Web Albums, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content through Picasa Web Albums, including RSS or other content feeds offered through Picasa Web Albums, and other Google services. In addition, by submitting, posting or displaying Content which is intended to be available to the general public, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting Google services.
Seems reasonable.
You post a pic to their free site and they can use it to advertise their site and services.
But they can't take your stuff and sell it for a profit.

Yeah I didn't think it was true about Flickr either.

Maybe mmntech is thinking about MySpace and Facebook, who does take ownership of anything uploaded.

Picasa will host your photos for free, limiting you to 1024MB in storage, but you can pay to get more. I just find the whole interface clunky, YMMV. They do host the full res file, though I'm not sure if any PP is applied once uploaded.

Flickr is great for socializing. They will host 200 of your photos for free, but limit you to access of a 1024 by xxx resolution image. But if you upgrade to Pro, you then have access to your full resolution images.

There are many other photo sharing sites, too many to try. Some of the ones I tried where just too slow at loading images, something to watch out for.

IMHO, your best solution for archiving large quantities of digital imagery is still the large external HDD. All of those open sites, especially social networking sites are a playground for identity thieves. The less you put on the Internet - the better off you are in the long run.

Windows Live Skydrive is also an option. I dunno what their TOS/copyright stuff says...but it's simple, free and you get 25GB.

They host the last 200 photos you upload. There's a monthly bandwidth limit too for the free account. Both, as already stated, are lifted after you fork over $25/yr.

Picasa. 1Gb for free and the paid stuff is huge and reasonably priced. And if you use the software on your computer then Album management is MUCH easier than any website.
I hate managing albums online. Its slow and clunky and requires way too many clicks and types. With the Picasa program its just drag and drop. Of course, I only use it for managing my Picasa albums & photos. For personal image management I still use ACDSee.

I am. But it is neither free nor cheap. It's great if you're looking for a way to present albums to folks.

Lots of customizing too, but you have to really want to get into CSS editing. They have a new easy customizer though, haven't played with it much (early on it was not so good IMO).

Ditto! I have used it for over 3 years - but as is pointed out, it ain't free. It certainly is good.
