This has got to be the cheapest (quality and performance wise) heatsink design I've just about ever seen. Just a slab of aluminum for a Slot 1 Celeron:
A friend of mine found a Cel300 at work that had lost its heatsink altogether (got unclipped and fell off, I guess) and had apparently managed to function in that condition for months. Wow!

Yep our compaq PIII's here at work use that very same heatsink, it seems to work without any airflow. Apparently for Compaq, it seems to work quite well.
Laugh if you want, but I bet it works just fine on the low-end oem systems it was designed for, and that it is extremely cost-effective. Save $1 each on half a million units, keep the difference. Ka-Ching!
I like it more than some of the really cool-looking expensive crap that doesn't work any better.
Should serve as a reminder that some lures are designed to catch fish, others are designed to catch fishermen.
