I recently bought a Multiwave 32X64 PC133 256MB SDRAM DIMM with a lifetime warranty from http://www.mwave.com for $125. Last time I checked, it dropped in price again. Memory prices are dropping like flies.

this is a quote off the pcboost.com website for their pc133 256 meg stick:

" (Uses The New Ultra High Density 256Mbit DRAM Technology - Will Not Work In Systems That Max Out At 1024MB or Less Maximum Memory) "

What does this mean? will this memory work in the CUSL2-C?

You could buy memory from Crucial.com if you wanted to be sure, here's a direct link to your mobo...
http://www.crucial.com/index.asp?model=CUSL2&x=1&y=18

Anyways, from what I can gather from the Crucial website (32 chips x 64mbit density), your board should be able to take a 256mb single dimm (that is 32 chips, of 8mb each, basically double height, 2 rows of eight 8mb chips on both sides)

That 256mbit density sounds like a single dimm (that is 8 chips, of 32mb each, basically single height, 1 row of eight 32mb chips on one side).

That new density might not work with your motherboard.

Mushkin rev 2 or rev 3 will be your best bet. Tried and tested. Rev 3 might only be in 128 mb though. You'll have to check. Prices are very competitive.

Don't settle for less, these i815 boards like good RAM.

Crucial has 256 meg sticks for $128 with free 2 day shipping. Use this link. The part # you want is CT32M64S4D75. This is cas3 PC133, but will likely run @ cas2 (mine deos). High quality ram at a very good price.

Might as well go for a stick of Kingmax PC150 256MB, $169, or buy two 128MB sticks for $72 each.

i'm liking these sticks of 256 less and less...
how does this alternative sound: get a mobo which has 4 DIMM slots, and get 4 sticks of 128....i think this would be a lot cheaper.

i'm not looking to get top of the line ram...generic stuff is fine, as long as it runs at 133mhz - i won't be ocing this machine.

can someone recommend a mobo which is similar to the Asus CUSL2-C, but has 4 dimms instead of only 3?

$128 is too much for 256 meg of PC133? 4 128's will likely cost you as much. Memory is so cheap these days. I guess you could look around for generic stuff. Beware of the real cheap stuff. You get what you pay for. 4 mem slots that can all be used is not gonna happen on an 815 mobo either. You could go with a VIA Apollo Pro based board.

You could get a motherboad w/ 4 dimms and get 4 x 128MB sticks. Since i815 boards only support a maximum of 512MB anyways, you wouldn't have to worry about future upgrade paths on that board. If this was on a board that supports more then 512MB, then filling up all the dimm slots can limit your upgrade path.

815 boards can be had with 4 DIMM slots. Problem is, you cant use them all. You can only use 3 of them, and in many cases only 2.
