The Pentium III 1GHz will cost $265 on 28 January, $241 on 4 March, $225 on 15 April and then seems to do a mysterious vanishing act.
>>
While not as cheap as the Athlon, it is still a good price, and a great price drop. Currently it goes for $450 on PriceW@tch. It is time for me to same my money and replace the 300A o/c to 450.
Isn't the Tualatin the .13 micron version of the P3? I wonder if a BIOS update will enable older boards to accept it. I suspect not as the 815 needs a new chip to support it.
But why build a .13 micron version of the P3 that requires new hardware? You have to buy a whole new motherboard to support it. It sort of sounds like the current version of the P4 which is due to be phased out in 6 months or so.
