Hi all;

Ok so here is my confession, I've been out of the PC scene too long and am a bit lost.

I'm in Canada so my prices are in CDN Dollars, I don't have a credit card so I can't buy online, so I'm stuck with retail (bleh!)

My current system is an AMD XP 1600+ with 1gb of DDR266 (512x2), on an ASUS A7M266 Board with a Nvidia 6200 256mb AGP Card, this PC has treated me well for the last 4-5 Years.

Time to upgrade thou, and my budget is just that buget level.

My local Computer store has a bundle that to me seems like an ok deal, but i'm not sure and need a little feed back.

ASROCK 775i65G (http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775i65G&s=n) with an Intel P4 630 and a 512mb PC400 stick for $199.99

I'm not crazy about the 630 it seems a bit old, they gave me a couple of options.
I can upgrade to a Pentium D 820 for 40 bucks. A single 1gig stick of RAM for 45.

Anyone with any feedback if that deal is decent or should I hold off or look for something else.

Obviously I'd like to get better but I'm on a limited budget (something about kids having to eat, sillyness :D:disgust:

Any advice/help appreciated. Any feedback on the Mobo would be nice also

Cheers,

Kali

Not sure about in-store Canadian prices, but you might be able to score an Athlon 64 X2 setup with 1GB of RAM for around that much. Bottom line, I would not buy a non-dual core processor or less than 1GB of RAM at this point in time.
