Cheap Wireless Router N + 2.4/5ghz

Despite being an AT member for a long long time I think this may be my first foray into the networking room...

I am essentially looking for a 2 cheap routers (second hand is fine) that do Wireless N, have both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies and I can flash with DD-WRT.

Lately I've been looking at the technology around the house and we're using more wireless gizmos and starting to use nice bits of tech like Chromecast and Amazon Prime. My router has been dropping some wireless devices suddenly, Wifi Analyzer app for Android tells me that the 2.4ghz frequency is quite heavily populated around the area and switching channels has given me minor success, and although signal in certain areas are 'sufficient' I'd like to add another router into the mix and provide strengthened coverage in the lower signal areas.

DD-WRT is quite an odd beast and having played around with a DD-WRT router in a similar setting I just love the options that it opens up over and above what we're given by manufacturers. The UI is also a heck of a lot better than what I've used on Netgear and TP Link routers in the past.

Thoughts?

Do you have hardwire connecting the routers?

TP-Link WDR3600 or WDR4300 if I thought that N750 might be better.

I have one router. With the proposed second router I would be unlikely to use a cable and would rely on wireless.

Are talking about creating a wireless bridge between the two routers?

Not knowing exactly what you have and what you really want to do (as oppose to what you need).
