I'm looking for a cheap wireless bridge with multiple ethernet ports. Does something like that exist? I haven't seen any bridges with multiple ethernet ports (I only need 2), but I thought maybe there was an existing router that could be configured as a bridge.
Let me describe my network setup and exactly what I want to do.
My tivos have the ability to transfer shows back and forth (gigs of data). They have USB 1.1 ports with a limited number of wired and wireless (802.11b only) USB adapters supported. I have an existing 802.11b network using an SMC router. The tivos need to be able to communicate with each other quickly, and the rest of the network, but the speed to the rest of the network isn't important. The tivos are right on top of each other. The tivos need to be on the same subnet as my existing network, so a router won't work.
The easiest option is obviously to get 2 802.11b network adapters for the tivos and forget about it. But then when I want to transfer shows, I bog down my whole network.
My next thought was to connect the two tivos with wired adapters, connect both those to a wired hub/switch, then use a bridge to connect the hub to my wireless network. I think that should work nicely, but I want to get people's opinions on it.
However, I'd really like to get the hub/switch out of the picture, because I'm already almost out of power plugs. That's why I'm looking for a bridge with multiple ports, or a switch.
