Cheap WiFi w/ Range.

Looking to buy a wireless router for a relative's house. I more concerned about range than speed (802.11g will be just fine) because the cable modem and main desktop is on the top floor. Was looking at this router because I don't want to spend much when all they will do is browse the web and email:

Didn't pick it because of the "extended Range" marketing but because the reviews are good and surprising.

Any other suggestions?
 
love the buffalo. has 2dbi directionals (2 or 3) - you can replace them with 25dbi yagi. stock output is 840~watt and you can bump that up to 1 watt but be sure to check your local laws regarding max dba output. skip 5ghz it's not worth it. wait for the next gen of gigabit if you need that much speed. plenty of buffalo airstation high power 2.4ghz (flat antenna) on amazon near-new - they rock.
 
Are all these negative reviews from tech illiterate reviewers or is quality control just this bad? This is what has me worried and just has me betting on the cheap TP-Link, even if the range isn't better than most consumer grade wireless routers, it seems to just work well.
