cheap way to share files between computers?

You can create an ethernet with 2 computers with a cross-over cable (Assuming both computers have a NIC) card. You can usually pick one up cheap at any computer store like Best Buy or CompUSA. You can probably get one real cheap from a screwdriver shop since they would probably make it for you on the spot.

Check out the AT FAQ if you have trouble setting up your network...

Remember, if you are directly connecting the 2 PCs, you HAVE to use a crossover cable... If you are using a hub/switch, you should use normal CAT5 cables...

Depending on your OS you may also have to install some OS components. Seems to me there's a crosover networking component option in the WIN 98 install that doesn't get installed on a 'typical install'

Isn't there an option in Windows to network two computers with USB? Granted, it would not be very fast. Cheap, though...

2 NICs and 1 x-over cable should cost about $30 shipped, which is only slightly more than most USB solutions and way faster...
