Cheap Video card

Hey where can i buy a cheap video card until the Geforce 3 cards come out?
I dont want to spend more than $40. can this be done?

I think there is a Trident video card that is 4 or 8 meg and is cheap. Other than that I wouldn't pay over $60 for a Voodoo3 because last year you could have gotten one for that while they were still in business (with a $50 rebate).

Most of the voodoo 3's are onsale in the trade forum for about $50 shipped. I would definitely spend about $10 extra to go from a trident to a voodoo3 2000. The performance differnece is HUGE between the two.
BTW what video card do you currently have in your system? Because I don't think that any trident card can be considered an "upgrade". 🙂

well i had a TNT2Ultra but i sold my whole system so i dont have anything.

i know anything i get right now is not an upgrade... but just until i get some deal on a good video card...

I think that Bestbuy has the ATI Expert 8 Meg PCI cards for $59 with a $20 mail in rebate. The question is why would someone with a 1 gig processor system be messing with anything less than a geforce 2 MX? they are supposedly available as cheap as $79 and would be far more suitable, even as a temporary solution. Should be able to turn around and sell it for at least $50 or so after using it for 6 months when it is time to upgrade. Chuck
