Cheap vid card recommendation

Right now I'm looking into getting either a Radeon LE and hacking and OCing it or getting a GeForce 2 MX and OCing. Anyone have any suggestions as to which I should do, or other cards I should consider? $100 is pretty much my spending limit, so try to keep that in mind. Thanks.

Is there any kind of guarantee that I'll be able to OC the Radeon LE?

There is always no guarantee when overclocking. Unless, of course, you bought a pre-tested component. 🙂

Definitely go with the Radeon DDR LE. It is only $77 shipped, and will outperform the Geforce2MX in hi-res and 32bit color situations. The only reason not to get it, would be if you are using Win2K. Even then, you may consider it, since more drivers have been coming out for Win2K, and it has supposedly been helping the performance.

Look at the forsale forum, there are always a lot of these card selling there for less then retail.

the newest retail and special edition win2k drivers are actually really good. the 3d performance on the new specials is really good, couple of 2d anomalies.
