Cheap USDA Prime NY Strip at Costco

Costco has $20 off any package of USDA Prime whole NY Strip steak good through today. It's $9.69 /lb before the $20 discount. I chose small package so it was only $8.18/ lb after the discount. That's cheaper than their USDA Choice NY Strip.

Where do you buy USDA Prime NY Strip for $6/ lb? The only recent time I saw near $6 was during the similar $25 off package sale near Christmas last year at Costco. It was $8.50/ lb before the $25 off so if you bought similar package, it was around $6.61/ lb. I haven't seen anything under $10/ lb since.

I'm reading it correctly. Benefit of living in Texas, HEB puts out prime NY strip at $6/lb a couple times a year. Every other week it's 8.99 or 9.99/lb, again, no need to buy the whole primal.

After the $25 discount, I paid about $6.40 /lb for USDA Prime NY Strip. The sale is good through 12/18/16 so check your local Costco this weekend for the deal. I'll probably go back Saturday or Sunday and buy another.

Damn I should get this and test out my sous vide.

It's perfect for sous vide. You can slice it to your desired thickness, add your preferred seasoning, and vacuum seal the pieces and freeze. Then whenever you want steak, you can take it out and sous vide straight without any thawing. It doesn't get any easier. I plan to use one package to cut into steaks to use with my Anova. Another package I'm thinking of smoking it whole on the Kamado Big Joe. If you love beef and have the freezer space, it's really no brainer purchase.

Nice! I picked up another 14 pound package today. I now have 26 pounds of Prime NY Strip for about a cost of single dinner for two at a fancy steakhouse. With Anova sous vide and Kamado cooker, I can cook steaks for my family just as good as most fancy steakhouses while in my pajamas.
