Heh, Pink0 thinks he's a mod :D

EternalBlue, check out Hauppage, or maybe Leadtek.

Lighten up. He asked a question so what if it has been asked before. Either give an answer or keep quiet. Check Johns link there is lots of good info there on tuner cards. I use a Hauppage Win Tv Go myself. It works very well as a tuner card but I couldn't say if it will fit your requirements or not as i don't play console games.

Alright, all you guys who are criticing me this is what I have to say to you:

You're all idiots.

He's asking for help with a cheap TV tuner. If he does a search he will find no less than 7 threads asking and answering this very question. He will get more answers from those 7 threads more quickly than here. He asked a question. I gave him an answer. I may not have linked to all 7 threads but I told him where to find them.

Secondly, I've been here for much more than a month. In fact, I've been here since nov 2000. Having moved recently and formatted my hard drive (no more cookies) I lost my anandtech password. Since I dont' have the same ISP that I had before the move, they can't email me my password so my account is dead. Had to create a new one.

Thanks for the compliment (re: idiots.) You could have pointed out a couple of the threads similar to what John did. However, you failed to do so and instead flamed this individual.

You, sir, are the idiot!

Now, getting back on topic:

The ATI cards have experienced some issues as indicated. The Avermedia cards are very good performers. However, if you have to buy a new one for $49.99 + tax at CompUSA, you might was well head over to Newegg and get the Leadtek card for $60.99 - delivered. The Leadteak has got to be about the best tuner card out there right now in the $60 to $100 price range. If you are looking for something cheaper, you could try the ATI or Avermedia. Check in the 'for sale' forum where you will periodically see TV tuner cards being sold. I sold my Avermedia card for $35.00.

DO NOT GET AN ATI TV TUNER!!

Man they don't care about drivers for the TV tuner cards. The diver support is terrible, and was such a pain I just sold it like 2 months ago. TV tuner works great in the 8500DV card but they don't care to upgrade the drivers for he TV tuners.

I've read good things about the MSI tuner. The card was in short supply when I purchased, so I went for the Leadtek.

I don't have any experience with the MSI. The MSI seems to be carried by only a few vendors. However, the Leadtek is readily available - $60.99 (delivered) from NewEgg. Plus, the Leadtek has a remote control, FM tuner and other goodies. The Avermedia card is good. However, if you paid $49.99 for it from CompUSA + tax, then I'd definately look at the Leadtek card. If you paid less than $25 for the Avermedia card, then you might want to hold onto it.

i've read elsewhere that the leadtek doesn't offer stereo sound.

i got the avertv stereo and i've got to say that i'm having problems with it. after uninstalling the software, i couldn't get into my device manager. it said something about a MMC not being available or something. same thing happened to my friend. i'm running at 1600x1200, 85hz and the picture quality is really bad at full screen. bump the resolution down to 1280x1024 and the picture is still crappy. i've got it hooked up to a cable connection and all the other tvs in the house have perfect reception.

i wanna get the leadtek but only if the asus is not out and is under $70. :)

leadtek provides better picture quality! the picture on this leadtek kicks ass. the avermedia has nothing on this tv tuner.
