Cheap TV, Cheap DVD Player: Now I Need Cheap Audio

Dedpuhl

Lifer
Here is what I have:

TV: 32? Apex AT3208S

DVD: Mintek 1600

I also have digital cable.

Now I am looking for a speaker setup. My living area is small (15?x25? ? TV is set up parallel with the 25? path). I am not worried about bass at all since I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment. I would like something cheap but with decent sound.

Anyone have suggestions for a nice but cheap speaker/receiver setup?

I've got a yamaha DTS/DD 5.1 receiver + 6" powered sub, little 2 way Yamaha speakers for centers and rears and some wharfedale Sapphire 87 bookshelf speakers I'll sell to you for pretty cheap.

🙂

I gotta move and that's less stuff that will have to go.

Hey,
Can't go wrong with these Polk PLK R30BLACK at Circuit City at $199.98

after tax, i'd almost pay as much for one speaker as I did for my TV
$100 for a 32" tv? I'm impressed! 🙂

Me too..
Is there an original thread explaining/detailing your set-up?

eh my bad....I misread the CC ad (I need sleep badly)... I paid 250 for my tv

Get some PC speakers. You can get good quality for pretty cheap.

These actually sound really good.

As for bass, if you get the sub off the floor with a table or something else that is open with just legs touching the floor you'll signifigantly reduce the amount of bass transmitted to the apartment below.

This cornhole....errr cornhusker is headed to Phoenix.

(Yes, I know that technically Nebraska is cornhusker country, but Iowa is close enough...and I spend enough time in Omaha to count as a psuedo husker)

Look into a decent boxed set, there are a number in the $400 range that are an excellent starter.

The big two are the Kenwood HTB-505 & one by Onkyo that I can never remember the model of (I bought the Kenwood).

Viper GTS

I'd have to go along with VGTS and suggest a boxed set. Normally I'd recommend DIY but it's hard to get the costs of the drivers and a stereo (or multichannel) receiver under $300.
