cheap tickets

any experiences with the cheap ticket sites? (priceline / travelocity / expedia etc). i'm especially interested if anyone has experience with Priceline's name your own price option.
fyi i'm travelling from DC to Portland to see a friend.

Travelocity is my fave, but I have used expedia. I also once used the Priceline.com name your own price. I did actually save like 60% once my offer was accepted. It was just not knowing my flight info until AFTER I paid that made me leery.

I just use expedia and be done with it. It might be a few dollars higher, but I can pick my own departure and return times, it stores all my trips and itineraries, and the customer service is quite good.

To me, the flexibility of choosing times and airlines (a plus if you try to build FFM's) is more than worth paying a couple bucks more.

yeah...well, i'm unemployed, in summer break right now, so i'm pretty flexible. the only problem is my friend who would be picking me up has a job etc. i guess that makes the NYOP out of the question for me. travelocity did find the lowest fare by $30.

my good buddy just used priceline and got a sick deal at a 4 star hotel in montreal.

i think he is paying $100 a night.

i realized that just after i posted. unfortunately i only have then on british airways... i rarely fly within the country. i have to look into the possibility of transferring miles to one of BAs partners... hmmm.

hehe... we use it and get hotels in toronto for $40/night (marriot and sheridan)
