I'm looking for an inexpensive 7" or 8" android tablet mostly for browsing the internet/email at home, maybe a couple of time-waster games, nothing too taxing. Amazon has the 7" Samsung Galaxy tab 3 on sale for $140, but I found this 8" tablet for $100 from Walmart. The WM tablet has a bigger screen and a little bit faster processor and otherwise pretty similar, but I've never heard of this brand. All things being equal I would prefer the larger screen, am I missing something here with the Samsung? Besides being a well known brand, is there any reason to spend a few extra bucks for the Samsung over the Walmart model?

Get neither. Only the expensive Samsung tablets are good, and the no-name Chinese ones are bad news. (That one has actually a slower processor, a lower resolution, and probably a bad non-IPS panel with poor viewing angles and color.)

At $150 the Dell Venue 7 and HP Slate 7 Plus are pretty decent, or you can find deals on the old (2012) Nexus 7. The only thing cheaper than that to look at is the Nook HD, which actually has the best screen of the above -- there's a refurb deal for $90 right now.

Well between those two, I'd probably take my chances with the Nextbook, though I'd need to see the displays on both, at these prices I'm worried they may cheap out with TN panels.

However I'd definitely pick a Nook HD+ for $150 instead.
