Cheap sunglasses

I've seen these ads in all the free subscriptions to Stuff, Maxim, etc for Sonic Eyewear sunglasses that are "free" and come out to ~$13 shipped. Not sure if these are at all good, if this is just way to market a cheap pair of sunglasses, or a total scam. Seems shady to me. Anyone have any experience with these guys? I'm pretty sure I've seen this kind of offer before.

It's just standard cheap sunglasses. Notice that the shipping cost varies by the "original price" of the item:

R5 $120.00 -12.95
S356 $140.00 -15.95
S359 $210.00 -18.95
S360 $170.00 -16.95

So they're charging you about 3x their cost in the shipping charges.

Not free, not hot.

I ordered one from them several years ago. All I can say is you get what you pay for.

I would go one step further & say "Don't waste your money on these puppies"!

I ordered 3 pairs on 2 different occasions - once from Playboy & once from Maxim. The brand names were different & they look awesome in the ads. When you receive them the bad quality shines through! I have never even once used them & finally threw them away.

This is true, however if cheap sunglasses make you happy then go for it. Whether or not the inferior optics will actually damage your eyes is a matter for debate.

I don't believe they will harm your eyes - but may not filter all the UV rays they claim they do, or may scratch easily, or break easily, poor finish, etc. In other words, they are not worth even 2 bucks!
