Anyone know of an inexpensive place to get a SSL cert for my website issues by an authority that's part of Microsoft's default trusted root authorities?
Verisign wants $349 a year for a 40-bit cert.
Thawte wants $159 for a one year 128-bit cert, which is reasonable for a business, but I'm just playing with my personal web server.
Entrust is $149/yr
I know I can self-issue a cert with my own CA, but it'd be superneatokeen if I could get a cert from a trusted root CA.
<pipe dream> Are there any default-trusted-root-authority companies out there who give out SSL certs for private use for free? </pipe dream>
