Cheap solid DVD player?

Hey guys, what a nice DVD cheap solid DVD player that doesn't flinch or die in a few months?

I have a standard definition TV, so I don't need upconverting or DVI inputs or an expensive de-interlacer/scaling solution. Just need some component inputs with progressive scanning for the future.

I need it to be around 80-$100. I thought about the Phillips 672 but it isn't in stock in many places. 🙁

I bought one of these Toshiba players. I bought one when Best Buy had it on sale for the same price (they do it about every month or so). It's a solid player...good picture/sound quality, reads SVCDs and MP3s, and has a good tray (a lot of the cheap ones nowadays have flimsy ones). The bad is that it doesn't have optical out, and it won't read DivX like the Philips. It got the best review in this budget player benchmark.

apex dvd players are good, supports ntsc/pal playback, region free mode,
plays mp3, mpg on dvdrs etc

but not sure if they're still manufacture as the owner was arrested in china

one thing though is the overheating issue (after 3.5 hours/ sitting)
and artifacts would start appearing and then the movie/dvd player would stutter
and finally stop

I've got an old apex that hasn't skipped a beat, my parents daewoo has the 1sec. pause when switching layers, don't know if all of them do that or not.

Philips DVP642

Plays DivX = you win.

Edit: It's $60-70 and all the pirates are buying it so you may have difficulty finding one. IIRC, Amazon was backordered for 2 months on these.
