I wash dishes with a dual sided sponge/scrubber.

for my small 2 quart air fryer ($25 best buy), I try to use the sponge side but sometimes i have to use to green scrubber side to get the gunk off.
after doing that a few times, flecks the teflon rub off and rust develops in those spots.

So now i'm at a point where i need a new air fryer.

Recommendations on a cheap small air fryer where the teflon doesnt rub off?

Switch to the blue sponge/scrubbies. The green ones will ruin the non-stick coating

Easiest solution? Stop using the scrubby side. No different than any other non-stick coating.

Hardest solution? Pick an air fryer that does not have a non-stick basket design - I have a countertop cusinart combination air fryer / toaster that's all stainless steel inside.

Soak the mesh first. Mine are stainless but I soak it because it is much easier to clean without destroying my sponge.

A thought I had: Teflon is perceived to be non-stick. Your food doesn't stick to it.

Isn't it logical to assume the metal parts of the implement also don't stick very well to the teflon coating?

I've long considered teflon pans to be consumables which must be pitched after a while. Good for frying eggs. But they are not durable like a steel or cast iron skillet.

I've got a non-stick frying pan present from my grandmother 20 years ago.
It's not Teflon. No idea what's it made of.
Still works good as New.

Unfortunately, She passed away 15yrs ago.

I have one of the smallest (2 qt), cheapest (free after rebate) ones around. It's a Bella. Had it for more than 3 yrs and use it several times a week and the teflon is still all intact. Do not know it current models are made the same, but it works for me.

at best buy, there are 2 bella pro air fryers on sale:
$20, 3.7quart: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bella-...nalog-air-fryer-black/6507321.p?skuId=6507321

$25, 4.2quart: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bella-pro-series-4-2-qt-analog-air-fryer-grey/6507323.p?skuId=6507323

the 3.7quart seems the better bang for the buck?

They aren't fancy - mine has a temp dial and a timer and a light that goes off when the temp is reached, as do both of those. Works for me! For $20 or $25 you can hardly go wrong.
