Anyone have a cheap second monitor recommendation? Apparently I need to spend $50 on a DVI-D to VGA active converter to get my ancient Sharp LL-172C-B working and I'd rather spend a bit more on a new monitor. This is just a second monitor that I use for web browsing, Twitch, etc. so colour quality or response time isn't too important as I'm looking at it from a bit of an angle. Currently looking at the BenQ GW2280. Or maybe the LG 24MK400H-B?

Check eBay and Craigslist.

Or, find an old PCI video card, or a PCIe 1x card (they do actually exist) that has a VGA connector, slap that in your PC, and keep your old monitor.

My motherboard has two PCIe x16 slots (2nd one is x4 electrically) but it allows me to plug in a low end GPU (GT 610) and run a second monitor on that.

As a side benefit, my main card is AMD but the second is Nvidia. I have older games that I still play that came as a package deal with an Nvidia GPU and it checks for the presence of an Nvidia GPU before running. I can still play it on my AMD GPU because the GT 610 is present.
