For those of you upgrading that single core S939 into an X2, what boards are you putting that extra processor into? I currently have a DFI Lanparty UT nForce4 board (arguably the single best motherboard series ever, definatly top 5 S939 board), but am looking at building a cheap rig with my 3000+ when I drop an X2 3800+ into my lanparty. Minimum requirement: has to be able to hit a 280 HTT speed, which is where the 3000+ starts crapping out at. Boards I was looking at:

Maybe some mini ATX boards, like the biostar TForce6100 or the RS480 Infinity from DFI.

I'd go with the DFI. I've always had good luck with them and they have great overclocking BIOS's except I've had the northbridge fan crap out on a few of the but thats a cheap fix.

Your talking about the infinity series correct? I'm just a little leery of them since people have said they die within 3 months...I'll just order a new northbridge fan when I order anyway. Plus DFI has a 3 year warranty...

the epox nf4 boards are great, asus A8N boards can be found used for around $50 and if you don't mind running ram at 2T they hit 300+.

Thanks for the info. Even 2 sticks needs to be at 2T? I'm thinking about dropping my ocz gold (BH5) into this thing and getting 2gb for my rig-it likes a little bit of volts and 1T! Maybe I'll go with the epox-my friends nForce3 epox was the easiest board I've ever used.
