Cheap Router?

My Linksys gave out, so I'm looking for a cheap router replacement. (I have Cable internet split to 4 computers - regular, not wireless). What's a good cheap replacement? Thanks.

SMC Barricade.... you can usually find this cheap and its better than DLink.... The Barricade also comes with a built in print server and many user editable settings for firewalling, etc. Have used an SMC Barricade for 3 years with no problems.

I found a DLink that's only a couple of dollars cheaper than the Linksys which goes for $46. Shouldn't I just go for the Linksys then?

Dlink 604..or you can go with the 614+ with wireless AP. After rebate, I've seen it for $29. Can't beat that.

DONT GET AN SMC BARRICADE!!! I had been using one for the past 6 months, would constantly crash and need rebooting. Go with a Dlink, or spend the exra money and get a linksys.

CackRabbit,

You must have gotten a bad apple then, the one I have is one of the older models with half the ports in the front and the other half in the back... while it is annoying I cannot complain since I have never had any problems.

Xenon14,

I would just go for the Linksys... after all, the company is now owned by Cisco 🙂 Apart from the SMC Barricade, everything in my network is Linksys. Also have had no problem with them.

Good luck with your selection!

not sure how well they perform but for the price i don't think you could go wrong..

check www.outpost.com

they've got some FAR deals on Uniden routers right now. $20 - $20 MIR on a uniden 4port router. They've also got some wireless products available for pretty cheap also.

Just a suggestion.

Me personally, I've always used Dlink or Linksys. Just usually the best deals I've found when I was searching for a product to buy.

someone is selling a d-link 614+ on FS section, for pretty low price...
i'm currenlty using it, and thought it is a very good router and at the price that guy is selling ...its great.
