cheap quiet power supply

Hey, what are some good brands of PSUs that are VERY QUIET and cheap (of course that rules out enermax)? I personally like the HEC (HeroIchi) PSUs as they seem to fill my requests, but are there some others I should take a look at?

Thanks a lot.

what's all this shmoe about quiet...go enermax...i'd rather get quality then quiet. Just my personal opinion. I had an antec 303 psu 300 W...it was kinda quiet.

To answer both:

yes, I would consider that expensive. I'm looking at about $15-20. 🙂

I thought enermax was known for being both quiet and high-quality

Leadman Power Supplies are extremely quiet with two fans and they are one of the cheaper power supplies.. taking a look inside reveals a very well designed PSU and they are heavy for their size which is another way to tell if a PSU is any good..

Edit: Linky you won't find a better PSU around for this price.. but be warned that the reason they aren't approved for the higher Ghz Athlons is because the 12V is strangely only 11.88 not a full 12+ volts and AMD is very selective with what they tolerate on the 12V..

Either way whatever you do DON'T get a Deer PSU.. don't even start me on how bad they are IMOE..

If you are looking that cheap, you are better off buying a case/fan combo. Sell the case to someone if you don't need it.

Get a quality 300watt and put a $9 (shipped) PC Power and Cooling Silencer 80mm fan in it (28cfm at 20db, or so they claim in the specs). That fan is REALLY quiet though, no joke.

Damn.. didn't notice the $20 limit.. you will not find a good power supply under $30 or at least you can't be sure.. good luck

I forgot to mention: I don't need many watts...I just need something to run this really wimpy K6-III 450 system.
