The Mazda dealership wants $20.

I have 35k on my tires, and have 4/32" of tread left. (i can see the top of washington's head on a quarter.) That's about 6k miles left on the tire before i hit the legal limit of 2/32".

it's a slow leak caused by a screw.

any cheap places to repair it?

$20 isn't cheap?

i guess you could go to a local shop and get it patched/plugged for about $8-10...

<--had it fixed multiple times by his own two hands and once, many years ago, at the shell on lee hwy in falls church, across from nation cemetery ....

Or use that goo stuff (name?) and a compressor

You have 35k on your tires, and you're trying to squeeze all the way down to the legal limit? Dude, just get new tires, it'll handle and brake MUCH better, especially in the rain. Getting the flat was a sign.

But if it's a slow leak, just use a can of fix-a-flat.

Just plug the tire yourself. Go to Pep Boys or Autozone and get a tire repair kit. Plugging a tire is insanely easy.

If you're getting your tires changed after 6K miles, then Fix-a-Flat should hold.

You need a compressor to reinflate the tire after you plug the hole. You could use a bike pump, but it would take a LONG time and your arms would probably fall off before the tire would be up to operating pressure.

$20 is the normal rate...

I had one of my tires repaired after bead failure at an Exxon for $20 during the winter.

unmount tire
use handy dandy rasp in tire plug kit
plug
remount
air
drive away.

I've done it a billion times. my rear passenger liked to get screws. Had to do my brother's and father's tires as well. Altho, with under 5k miles or whatever on my 3, I had a huge bolt go through right by the sidewall. unplug-able and un-patchable :( It was a good excuse to buy KDW2's :)

Les Schwab sells used tires if they have them. perfect option if you can't patch the tire and your close to needing new tires in a few months. Last one I bought there was $25 installed and everything. I do buy tires there though so that might not be the price for none returning customers. Les Schwab also fixes flats free on any tire you purchase from them.

I have actually pumped a car tire up with a hand pump. Only thing we had available at the time. It does take a long time but it is doable.
