<< 15% in general for waitstaff (less for bartenders who are just popping the top)
20% for haricuts
15% for pizza delivery before 10 and more the later it gets (30% isn't unreasonable after midnight)
>>

Mine is usually 20% for the waiters and waitresses plus or minus 5% depending on servce
20% on haircuts
2 bucks and change on 1 pizza, 4 bucks and change on 2...etc

I have no problem with giving the pizza delivery guy a reasonable tip.

But why should it be based on the cost of my pizza? Whether I order $10 worth of pizza or $100, the guy does the same amount of work, drives the same distance, etc. He doesn't do a better job for one than the other. And, it's not like he made the pizza and put extra special effort into each one, right?

The same thing bothers me at restaurants, where if a group gets a bottle of expensive wine, the server will seem to expect a tip based on the wine, when they did almost nothing for it.

What do you think?

That salty thing on your pizza that you thought was an Anchovy isn't an Anchovy. Serves them right for not tipping decently

<< That brings up anither topic, what's up with people who order a pizza then aren't home when I get there? >>

Uh have you ever considered that it was a prank order?

Where I come from it's polite to give a 20% tip if the service was excellent, 10% for average service and nothing for poor service. What I object to is having the tip including in the bill, that way even if you got a rubbish service you'll still be giving a good tip guaranteed.

BTW:When I was in America I never gave the pizza guy anything at all, he was always so slow but after a few calls to pizza hut I soon got that sorted.

Red Dawn, exactly. I tip out of FEAR. Man, these guys are bringing food to my house. They have my phone number and address. I want to be able to order from these places again, thus, I tip at least avg amounts. Certainly I Don't skimp. $1.00 for a $35 order... sheesh.

OTOH, Pizza hut is getting pretty 'spensive and they charge for delivery now. I don't know if the delivery folks get that back, but, they do add on some cost for delivery around here. Regardless, I don't want any non-pizza objects on my pizza, so, either I go pick it up and don't have to pay a tip, or, I tip well.
