Cheap PCI 3D card?

An old Monster II has died on the kids' computer and I'd like to try to find a decent PCI 3D card for it. However, I don't want to spend very much. What do you recommend for around $50-70? Or am I just dreaming? Half-Life would be about as graphically intensive as the machine would run. Also, checking NewEgg, it doesn't appear they stock many PCI cards, so could you recommend any particular vendor as well?

Thanks! :)

3dfx Voodoo 3 2000. It's older but it'll work better on an older system then a really new PCI card would. You can also find them for relatively cheap.

Another vote for the Voodoo3 2000 PCI (quite possibly the most famous PCI video card ever made).

I would not touch anything from Trident or S3 with a twenty foot pole.

I'd vote for the V3 2000 PCI as well. Geeks got it for $49 plus shipping, I've seen them cheaper, so look around first.

Why not a PCI MX? It would have better driver support

My vote for the most famous PCI card would possibly be a Voodoo 1 but is very probably the Voodoo 2 ;)

Not really wanting to deal with driver issues, I think I'm going to go with an MX200 64MB card from AxionTech. They seem to have a good reseller rating and the price is right about where I want to be. Any recommendations against the card or them?

I say go with the voodoo3 2000 ...

I'm using one in my computer and I bought it when it just came out ..

I'm still happy with it ... never had any driver issues at all ....
even xp hasnt given me any issues with it ...
I also play a bunch of cstrike and it handles it well ...

you'll save a bunch of money on it and its a lot mor bang for your buck than the mx i think

Forget the MX! It performs considerably poorer in a PCI configuration! V3 would beat a PCI MX200, prolly even a PCI MX400. Voodoo 3/4/5 rock the PCI market IMO.
