Ok here we go. Who can make the cheapest pc that is functional and half decent. do not include hard drive, cd rom/dvd rom, monitors, keyboard, speakers, mouse, etc. Just see who can get the best deals. Prices based on newegg.com Here is mine:
$79-AMD Athlon XP 1800+/266 FSB Processor CPU 1800+/ 1.53GHz -0.13 micro Thoroughbred Core Retail
$68-A7N266-VM NVIDIA nFORCE 220 Chipset 266/200MHz FSB Motherboard Micro ATX- Retail
$39-ENLIGHT Model# EN-7150AP (BLACK) ATX MID-TOWER CASE w/ 200Watt POWER SUPPLY - OEM
$129-KINGSTON KVR266X64C25/512 512MB DDR PC2100 - OEM
total:$315
beat that!

1.) well...first off, it's not "functional" or "decent" without a harddrive. what can you do w/ a computer that doesn't have a harddrive ? play a BIOS game ?

2.) secondly, welcome to the forums

Dell had a student deal for $270 + shipping + tax (Oregon for me, no tax, fedex shipping is $30)

Dimension 8250
P4-2.4Ghz
256MB PC1066 RDRam
30GB 7200 rpm HDD
onboard sound, onboard Intel NIC
MS Windows XP Home + Works 2002
Mouse, Keyboard

pretty darn cheap.

I would go for a 1600XP instead of 1800XP only a 0.13mhz difference. Get the oem version and use the difference to get a good heatsink for it.

The .13 micron version is worth the extra cash and anyways 133 mhz seems a lot on AMD systems.

Thats plenty if you do not include a hard drive or cd rom/dvd rom.

A computer without a hard drive isn't very functional, but you are correct that it is half decent.

I am in the process of getting all the parts for a new computer (all have been shipped in fact). The total comes to $469 including taxes and shipping. I already have the speakers. BTW, you forgot about the $11 shipping on that case.
