Cheap, passive cooled, decent card for linux box?

I would pick the GF2MX personally.
The chances are that Linux has some sort of support for it already built in.
 
linux has a generic nvidia driver that i know will work up to the gf4 series...prolly the 5s as well. and nvidias own linux driver is pretty good. stay away from ati for linux. you could probably get a gf2 or 3 and just put a good vga heatsink on it.
