Hey guys, I have a server at my home that is the central storage space for 10 people all with different tastes. I therefore need lots of storage.

I ask therefore for a suggestion on a no frills server case. It's main point is to keep all the HDD's I'm putting in cool. I need no less than 6 HDD bays. The more the better. I dont care about windows and dont really want a PSU. I have one already. I just need a basic case.

I dont care about tooless bays or anything like that. Once the drives are in they aren't coming out unless they die. I just need something with plenty of HDD bays thats on the cheap, because I dont need nor really want any frills.

Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Norco 4020

Install WHS, and add some SuperMicro PCI-X 8-port SATA cards (works in PCI slots).

Then add shedloads of drives. :)

Also, Antec 300, has six internal HD bays, might be a cheaper option.

Antec Three Hundred @ Amazon, $60 & free shipping

It has thee external 5.25 bays, and 6 internal hard drive bays. No built in eSATA ports.
As you can read in the description, its has a 120mm fan, and a 140mm fan on the top of the case. You can optionally buy and install yourself an extra fan on the case wall, and 2 120mm fans in front of the case directly in front of the hard drives. Each 120mm fan covers three hard drive bays. I just got the case and opened it. The two front fans have their own cages you can swing out after removing the front bezel. The hard drives can be installed from the front of the case also, but the fan cages have to be removed (easy to do).

Its also sold at newegg with alot of good reviews, but you are paying for shipping. The one I got from Amazon, shipped the same day for their free shipping service (might have been lucky to get a pickup at its particular warehouse, as I am waiting for other books with the order to ship yet). The shipping label I think says economy delivery, but I am not far from the actual warehouse and got the case 36 hours after placing the order.

Or if you are near a local Microcenter get the Antec 300 for under 50.

OP "... on the cheap..."

The Rosewill Conqueror series has two, 3-Hdd cages for a total of 6 and each cage has its own fan. Cages could easily be replaced with aftermarket units for 4 HDDs each cages if more drive space needed. Good price with free ship on some versions at the Egg right now. Several color schemes are available and this case is aka the Silverstone Precision SST-PS01.
