Cheap Motherboard For Socket 754

I am re-building my old AMD thunderbird computer.

I'll use Athlon64 2800+/3000+ CPU, SATA, DDR3200 (400mhz), Firewire is nice not a MUST.

My 3 options are:
1) Gigabyte GA-K8NS (nForce3 250)
2) MSI K8MM-ILSR (KT800)
3) ABIT KV8Pro (KT800Pro)
4) ABIT NF8 (nForce3 250)

Which is best?

I will probably overclock.
Price between those motherboard options I wrote is not something to consider, all pretty much the same.

Thanks!

If you'd like 1394, the MSI K8N Neo Platinum is a good choice (for overclocking too), but it's not on your list of four options. If overclocking, you want an NF3 250 chipset, so eliminate the K8T800s.

How is the ABIT NF8 then? I heard it has many problems and poor performance comparing to others.
The Neo Plat 754 costs about 40 dollars more then the others in the computer stores near me.

Oh right, you're in Canada. The only good place I know of that ships to Canada is NCIX, so check them out. I'm sure a Canadian (unlike me) could give you some other recommendations on where to shop.

The DFI is bought mainly for supreme overclocking ability. If you don't need the best of the best for that, you can get other motherboards that will do almost as good of a job.

Actually, just get the DFI... for some reason, I thought it lacked the 1394 you wanted (I knew the K8N Neo Platinum had it, though). 😕 If you need more (I think it has one in back and wiring for some up front), just go ahead and add a PCI card later.

I am in the same boat looking for a good 754 mobo that isn't to high. I have been looking at the soltek sl-k8an2e-gr for around 89 us, but i haven't had any experience with them.

I have the Chaintech VNF3-250. Very solid mobo, installation was smooth and didn't even had to update the bios version. It's very cheap also.
